Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Technical Support

  • Provide assistance to internal and external users via phone, email, or in person.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, including operating systems and applications.
  • Respond to IT calls and escalate issues when necessary.

2. System & Software Management

  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems and software.
  • Assist with software installations and updates.
  • Manage software licenses and ensure compliance with company policies.

3. Network Support

  • Help maintain networking infrastructure (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi).
  • Troubleshoot network issues related to TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
  • Ensure security measures are in place for network access.

4. Hardware Management

  • Set up and configure new workstations and laptops.
  • Maintain and track inventory of hardware assets.
  • Diagnose hardware failures or coordinate repairs with vendors.

5. Data & Security Management

  • Follow backup and recovery procedures to ensure data security.
  • Implement security measures such as antivirus and firewalls.
  • Educate users on best practices for data security.

6. Documentation & Reporting

  • Document technical issues and solutions for future reference.
  • Maintain records of system configurations and user requests.
  • Provide regular reports to the IT Manager on support issues.

7. User Training & Support

  • Offer training on effective use of hardware and software.
  • Create user guides and provide one-on-one or group training.
  • Assist with onboarding new employees by setting up user accounts.

Skills & Personal Attributes

  • Matric Certificate; Diploma in IT or equivalent preferred.
  • Proven experience in IT support or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Windows and macOS.
  • Strong knowledge of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Office 365, and enterprise software.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
